About Camp Camelot

One of the all-time great summer experiences is horseback riding. It's one of the things kids dream about and adults look back on fondly. Imagine peaceful summer mornings spent not only riding horses, but learning about them too. All this while enjoying nature's beautiful surroundings in small group horse camps.

The Amazon Ranch invites you to attend our 2009 annual summer horse camp. We present a number of sessions throughout the summer. All are carefully designed to meet the specific needs of our students at every level of skill and experience.

We offer camps that teach not only riding but feeding, maintenance and grooming as well. We provide individual and group activities, such as jumping and polo, to develop and enhance riding skills.

Our lesson horses are thoroughly experienced well-mannered, and suitable for riders of all levels.

At Camp Camelot are we do three exciting afternoon activities per week plus a visit to the historic town of Pioche!  In Pioche, we visit the Million Dollar Courthouse, take a walk up town to shop, visit the local cafe for ice cream, see the town museum and take a trip to "Boot Hill Cemetery".  Other afternoon activities during your stay include, but are not limited to, fishing off a pontoon boat at Eagle Valley Lake, hiking through Gorgeous Rock Formations at Echo Park, Spelunking the Sandstone Caverns of Cathedral Gorge, visiting an Abandoned Mining Ghost Town and the Kilns that made the coal, looking at Petroglyph on private lands, Swimming in a Warm Spring Pond, Spotting Wild Mustangs while hiking the Rainbow Canyon, Swimming below a 30' Waterfall, and Much, much more...

Tara Clark's love for horses began as soon as she could utter the word "Horse".  Moving to Las Vegas at 8 years old, she talked her parents into buying her her first horse.  With no experience, Tara's parents purchased a 2 year old Green Broke Mare.  To say the least, Tara learned the hard way...
Tara's Equestrian accomplishments are diverse.  As a Youth, she won many local and state championships in Western, Trail, Bareback and Showmanship.  She qualified for the Appaloosa World Championships at just 11 years old in all of these divisions.  She went on thru her teens trying many horses and disciplines.  One of her favorite expressions is "Many horses make a Horseman".  Tara rode in working Western Classes, Hunter Jumper, Dressage, Three Day Eventing and learned to drive teams as many as 6 Up excelling in all disciplines.  As a Teenager, she won in the Miss Helldorado Rodeo Queen Contest as the only girl to EVER ride a Stallion!

Just out of High School, Tara's family bought a cattle ranch in Caliente Nevada, beginning her love for Lincoln County.  Tara learned to Rope, Cut and Brand - ALL expected "Cowgirl" skills.  She designed her first Equestrian Center slated to be built on the resort at the Family Ranch at just 18.

Tara went professional in 1988 establishing the Royal Champion Equestrian Center and began Nevada's first Summer Equestrian Day Camp Program for Children.  Her students and Horses have captured World Championships in virtually every discipline.  Most recently, her Horses and Riders have been seen in Live Action Shows, Videos and Television.  Most notably is Sheryl Crows Award winning Video "First Cut is the Deepest" and "Big and Rich" at the Country Music Awards.  Tara is currently designing the Equestrian Center and the Riding Programs for the Griffin Ranch.  A World Class Equestrian Lifestyle Community and the Final Dream of Entrepreneur Merv Griffin.

Never forgetting her 'Rough Start' with horses, she has created a safe, fun and life-changing riding program thru Camp Camelot at the Amazon Ranch LLC, Located in Pioche, Nevada.
